Our Legal Aid section provides individually sourced legal services and specialized programs for survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and other forms of violence. Located in Oshawa, Ontario, Luke’s Place is a non-profit organization dedicated to the safety and protection of women and their children as they proceed through the family law process after fleeing an abusive relationship. They created the Virtual Legal Clinic, which provides free legal advice to women in Ontario who have been subjected to intimate partner violence.
The clinic uses web-based video conferencing or the phone calls to connect women to directly to lawyers. If you are a self-identified woman in Ontario aged 16 years and older, you can use the clinic if you:
- have experienced violence or abuse in your relationship.
- have a family law legal issue for which you wish to receive summary legal advice (e.g. parenting arrangements, child or spousal support, property division or financial issues, safety concerns).
- do not have a lawyer for the legal issue you wish to discuss.
