We aim to do what some say is impossible: Eliminate Rape Culture.

The origin story

VESTA is the result of thorough research and preparation.

In 2016, we welcomed a shift in public discourse around gender based violence. High profile cases in the workplace, in the media and on college campuses began to shed light on systemic issues affecting millions of people. Out of this momentum, the Vesta journey began: to gain a better understanding of key issues and to discover how we could affect positive change at individual and at institutional levels alike.

In late 2017, we witnessed a hashtag spread around the world – the collective voice of many individuals – using technology to quantify issues, defy expectations, and demand more from those in positions of power.

VESTA Social Innovation Technologies was created in response to the global movement.

We aim to do what some say is impossible: eliminate rape culture. Addressing the status quo of feeling overwhelmed and alone, Vesta gives individuals the ability to take control of how and when they share their experience.

For the past two years, we have conducted more than 150 interviews to get a holistic view of the issues faced by both survivors when they search for help and the challenges faced by those tasked to provide help. The result of which is a trauma-informed solution that aims to provide survivors with pathways to healing, to reporting and to justice.

Research and Development

VESTA Social Innovation Technologies is investing in peer reviewed research.

In collaboration with academia, we are investing in research and development that includes the perspectives of the diverse populations of Canada, survivors, service providers and community agencies.
